SJRA Permits – The Most Important Thing Most Contractors Miss
Lake Conroe Dock & Bulkhead Permits: The Complete Guide
The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) regulates all construction on Lake Conroe under a State of Texas operating license. Unlike most lakes in Texas, Lake Conroe has an additional layer of permitting that many contractors – especially those from outside the area – are simply unaware of.
G&C Bulkhead Construction handles SJRA permits for every Lake Conroe project. Here’s what you need to know:
Any dock, bulkhead, boathouse, or structure within the lake’s flood pool (up to elevation 201 ft) requires SJRA written approval before construction begins.
Structures must stay within SJRA-approved setback distances from the property line.
No fill material or dredging within the 201-ft contour without separate SJRA authorization.
Work must be completed within the permit window and inspected.
We prepare and submit the SJRA application, coordinate with their office, and keep your project on schedule. Unpermitted construction on Lake Conroe can result in mandatory removal orders and fines from both SJRA and Montgomery County.
